Woodland Walk, Outside Lighting, Surrey

Blessed with beautiful woodlands around the family home in the hills of Surrey, the clients wanted to create an atmospheric walk that included a gentle stream at the bottom of a small valley. By building an oak-framed pergola at the top of the hill as an entrance, sleeper steps led down to a gravel path that ran alongside the stream, which in turn twisted and meandered through the small valley to some open pasture beyond. Keen to be able to use the Woodland Walk at night and on warm summer evenings, ogl worked hard to get the balance right between subtle practical lighting (for hazards like the steps or the oak bridge) and the aesthetic requirements of this naturally beautiful environment.
